If A Tree . . .

I know you have all heard the saying, if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around – does it make a sound?

I don’t know why I was thinking about that, but since I was driving at the time and trying to pass a car, this was my next thought. If you speed on the highway and there is no cop around – are you speeding?

The answer is yes. I know you might not like that answer. I’m not a big fan of it either. I’m still working on this aspect of my personality – the driving me. It’s like I’m a completely different person. I get annoyed and I yell at the other driver – he doesn’t hear me – does it really matter. I’m afraid so.

I’m getting better at the driving thing but still not at the place I would like to be. Whether the cop is around or someone else is in the car, what happens in my heart is what matters. God knows that part. He always hears that mental gymnastics that goes on in my brain. Don’t worry, I’m not being hard on myself, just being honest.

I love being a work in progress, don’t you?

  3. What happens in my heart is what matters

So very true…glad God is patient with me :)

He really gave me some good advice on what to do when my parking lot gets taken...by giving them away when others are more determined, I usually end up with a better spot.

But I am still working on the getting cut off thing :0) It scares me, then I get mad… oophs

    Especially the new round about…yikes

  7. I usually do pretty good at the speed limit thing. It's my hubby who drives fast.

  9. hee heee
...and if you don't see a stop sign...it's really there too.

I was on my motorcycle and didn't see the (NEW) stop sign put in the neighborhood and noticed last minute as I *ahem* strolled on through. Well the stop sign sure saw me...along with the cop down the road...lol. *sigh* the laws of the land are still the laws of the land...whether I adhere to them or not I suppose.

ps...stop sign strolling costs $96 here in Denver...couldn't even get it reduced to a no seatbelt...I think that's 'cause motorcycles don't have seatbelts..hee hee.

  10. I am so there with you! Most days I am very friendly and considerate to other drivers, but then there are those days where it seems everyone driving is out to get me...hehe, I sound paranoid huh?

I have a great driving record, but not because I don't speed, because I pay attention to all the other "idiots" on the road. Also, I don't get 'caught' much...*snicker*

Just keep working at it, and awwwww look what hubby wrote..so cute.

Nadine: I have tagged you, you can go by my blog Work at Home Mom to Five for the rules.

    Take care

  11. You should try driving in Miami! Seriously. You'll need a Bible on the passenger's seat just to make it through traffic.

  14. I am afraid I am very much like you in this area of my life - I don't like it, and need to be delivered from this flaw! Thanks for being so honest.

Love the picture of the tree, though!

  17. This reminded me of something. If a man says something and his wife isn't around...is he still wrong? Hmmm, Thought provoking. Blessings.

  19. It's so funny how there are some areas more than others that it seems God is constantly having to work on in our lives. We're just a continual work in progress. But thank God for God!

  20. hehe, I've been very convicted of speeding, but the comments I make... oh i'm learning the hard way.. my oldest will say to me "who are you talking to mom?" and "what do you mean hurry up??".. not that i'm saying anything "foul" infront of my children.. it's the attitude... oh it's always about the attitude isn't it???

    Hugs my friend!!!

  21. I remember going through my church's serving ministry's class and our pastor's wife said a good test of where you are in your walk is how you are in the car. Meaning exactly what you described. More emphasis on the reacting to others, yelling, getting impatient, etc. Not to say that if you are doing well in this one particular area you are well in all the others but I find it a really good measure for myself. I don't like it at all when I feel myself getting irritated or impatient. As you said, it's what's in your heart. God knows our hearts, oh boy does He.

  22. So true about being a work in progress. I remember a quote that always stuck with me...something to the effect of, "you are the person you are when no one else is looking."

  24. Yes indeed, that tree falling certainly does make a 'lot' of noise. Have you ever heard \ watched a logger fell a tree or heard one fall close to your house in a high wind storm? It's a huge crackling, thud, crash, etc. :)

God grabs our attention that way sometimes too. :)

I think you are a 'wonderful' work in progress, but I don't want to ride with you. :) :) :)

Thanks for your beautiful post!!! :)
