Freaky Things That Happen

I’m not finished with my edits, but I had to take a break for this post. When I met my husband long ago, he was in a Christian band, Sonseed. He played percussion and the band had about fifteeen members. They even recorded an album called, First Fruits.

Understand that this was about thirty years ago. They were quite popular in Brooklyn and traveled on the weekends playing different churches. They hosted a coffee house called, His Place, once a month in which hundreds of people would come and listen to them play. The band had long disbanded.

That is not the freaky part.

Our son called tonight and told us that he was at work and he heard some of the guys listening to a song that sounded familiar to him. He goes to investigate and they are watching a YouTube video. He couldn’t believe they were watching a Sonseed video on YouTube.

Sonseed had gone on a Christian television program and sang one of the songs from the album. They couldn’t fit all the members of the band on stage, so only eight of about fifteen members. My hubby didn’t make the cut.

I don’t know how it ended up on YouTube, but it’s just a must share. Remember this is the early eighties.

So I hope you enjoy this freaky moment with me.

  5. *that* is cute! For the first half of the video I thought the drums made it on set but no drummer, but then finally the drummer showed up in the shot at the end. Too cute!

  6. Hey Nadine -

Thanks to you & Tom for the kind words on my blog. It's great that so many people get a kick out of "Sonseed" and "Jesus is a Friend of Mine". Like I've said on my blog - I've had it on tape for over 25 years and have shown it to hundreds of people. It never fails to make people smile. It's good to know that all kinds of people have a sense of humor. :)

  8. That was too fun. I don't know whether to miss the 80's or just be glad we've moved on, right?

My hubby is a drummer, too, so I've had my share in being a roady, sound tech, etc. Thankfully, he only plays with the worship band at church now.

    Blessings!

I've been wondering how your book is coming along. I am still working on mine but had to set it down again for alot of the summer since we have been so busy. I will hopefully have it ready for other eyes to start hacking at it in earnest this winter.
