There’s No Place Like Home

I’ve had a very busy weekend. On Sunday we had a joint service with our sister church in town. The ministry our church is associated with Streams Ministries’ founder, John Paul Jackson was in town for a visit. We had a very nice visit with him and he spoke on Sunday morning.

My husband wanted to get this new shirt for Sunday and we went Saturday evening to find him one. And where else can you go at ten o’clock at night? That’s right, Wal-Mart. Well I got to looking and for new pants for me. I’ve lost about 50 lbs in recently and I wanted to wear something casual that fit.

We found ourselves in the shoe section looking for shoes for Tom, when I wandered over to ladies shoes. I found these red high heels shoes. See picture above. I thought to myself, who could walk in these without breaking something? So being the funny gal that I am I show Tom the shoes and say, “Hey babe what about these?” To my surprise my dear husband’s eyes got very large and a big smile appeared on his face. He was determined I buy those shoes.

To make a long story short, I walked out of Wal-Mart with the red shoes and a new outfit. I know what you’re thinking – how in the world can she walk in those things? Well, it takes some skill.

The reaction from our people was very positive. Everyone loved my new outfit and my shoes. (Thanks all you made me feel great.) The best part was Tom’s smile when he looked at me.

Why the title to this post? Well it appears some of the folks had the same joke in mind, “I just want to see you click your heels together.”

You would think the pastor’s wife coming to church in red high heel shoes would put people off but no . . . not this crowd. You just gotta love them and I do.

Aw, I bet you looked great! It's good that you're in a community that gets over the "what a pastor's wife should look like" business.

You should look like... you!

Fantastic - I'm thinking the shoes were prophetic too - they match the red bag and are the next step in your journey toward uncovering your "red" side... you go girl!

Before I even read your post today, I had a big smile on my face for those outstanding, beautiful, red shoes you are wearing. And the purse to match? I do believe your sweet husband is right that objects can be used to speak to us and the change that is coming. Everytime I read your blog, I think I really should be more like you and sweeter and nicer. And Congratulations on your weight loss. Thanx for the smile today.

I love the shoes and they match your new handbag so well! I know you're husband was so pleased to have you on his arm. I thought the title was leading to "there's no place like home"----so I can take these shoes off my poor feet! That's what I think every time I wear anything besides my beloved Birkenstocks!

Red high heeled, peep-toe shoes! WOW! They look great. I love the color. Red is my favorite and my current toenail polish is probably the same shade as your shoes. I haven't worn heels in so long, I'd probably break a limb. Congrats on the weightloss too! How'd you do it?
