Enter In

I have to start this post by telling a funny little story about myself that has nothing to do with anything. I don’t know if any of you ladies can or would relate to this, but… Tom and I were on our way to church when I noticed that my nail polish had chipped on my toenails. We were only a block away. I told him we have to go back so that I can get my nail polish to fix the chip. He gave me that man look (you know the one that makes you feel you are from another planet). I gave him in return that woman look (you know the one that says I’m serious as a heart attack). With a smile on his face he turned the car around and we went back to house. At least I gave him a good laugh this morning.

Our church is hosting a conference with Ray Hughes. It’s been excellent. He’s from Kentucky and knows more redneck jokes than Jeff Foxworthy. He has a great love of God and of worship. He’s been writing music and playing for the Lord for 36 years.

One of the things he spoke about was some discoveries scientists have made regarding our DNA. They found if DNA was decoded and played through a keyboard it had an actual melody. Every individual has a unique song, because we all have distinctive DNA. He went on to explain an experiment done on a healthy mouse’s DNA when played through the keyboard had a very lively melody. Here’s where it gets interesting. When they played the DNA of a mouse that had cancer it had sections that matched Chopin’s “Funeral March.” Did you know that when Chopin wrote that song he was dying of what they called ‘consumption’ back then, but we call cancer today.

Music and worship is such an important aspect of our lives. Ever see a rock concert? Notice how people go crazy jumping and dancing? They are consumed by the music and lyrics. They scream and yell praises for the rock stars before them.

Let’s consider worship. I don’t lead worship or play a musical instrument well enough to participate on a worship team. I can’t sing. I dance in my own unique style and I love to worship my Lord. I was made to worship Him. It’s my responsibility to come prepared to enter in. It doesn’t matter what song is being sung. It doesn’t matter if the worship leader missed a note or broke a string or picked songs I don’t particularly like. What matters is that I come to worship my Lord in freedom and in truth. It’s important I give Him the praises He deserves. Imagine how a worship service would be if every person in the room came prepared to enter into worship regardless of the distractions of our day. How blessed would God be.

That was a very neat story about the DNA. Music is such an integral part of who I am, who we are as humans. It's so great to see God's design in us and the world around us.

And I totally get the chipped nail polish! I would probably have done the same thing.

Cool story! Your husband is a good man ;O)
Our church has being doing a ten day fast with the power of ONE , we pray for one Nation, one person in our church, one out of church , and a personal break through.....I was fine till the last one and I said God, how can I only pic one? So I just prayed he would reveal just one to me that would further his kingdom and he revieled AUTHENTICITY to me. Your post today has given me confirmation that I have chosen the exact right breakt hrough that would further his kingdom. I am praying that my authentic God designed self will be used to speak to others and that this gift that he has given each one of us will be recognized by one another and that we will encourage each other. So I just want you to be encouraged by your authenticity and tell you that it blesses me! Thanks for "JUST BEING YOU"

How beautiful is that? I have been having some problems walking to my own beat so maybe I need to bow and ask God to tune my inner piano so I can once again have the sweet melody palying again.
Thank You
Billie

You have a beautiful spirit, Nadine. I didn't know about the DNA music, but I did once see a TV show about brain waves making their own music. Pretty cool....

What a great post.....I agree with you 100% if we all came prepared to give our all in worship church would be a different place.....I think people would be attracted to church if we did that, just like they are attracted to Rock concerts!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Blessings

What a service that would be if everyone showed up prepared to worship.

Your husband is AMAZING to do that for you:) hehehehe
You are absolutely right! I do not belong to a "Dead" church and I praise GOD for that! I grew up in a "dead" church and I am so thankful I can get out of my seat and use streamers or my worship cloth freely As I dance before the Lord! He is The God Almighty. Thank you Jesus for always taking care of my situations and Struggles I am always in! I love Praise And Worship!

I found your blog through someones (can't remember now though). I loved your post! How incredible would it be if we came to church just as excited about praising God as we are about seeing our favorite bands play live. Jesus is "alive" every single day and because of that we shouldn't be able to sit still!
Thanks for sharing,
Amy

Tom is so sweet to turn back and let you fix the toe nails Nadine...not many hubbies/boyfrens are willing to go that extra mile.

You are so blessed and Tom, you have set a high standard that others might have problem follow...this is true honesty coming from a woman's perspective.

Bless you both :)

I wouldn't have dared ask my husband to go back and he wouldn't have gone if I did! Love the post on worship. I sang in church yesterday and made mistakes with my guitar chords, but no one noticed and it blessed many - worship - don't worry!

I will never argue with anyone on the power of music. I'm a firm believer that music is far more important than people make it out to be.

You rock Nadine!

About the toenail polish... I can see that happening to us. Just as you described;)

You are too funny and your husbands seems to know you very well. I don't think that I would ever get my husband to turn around for chipped nail-polish.

You are right, we should always come prepared to worship. But I want to add that we should worship Him even outside the church :)

Be blessed today and always.

Oh, one more thing. That our DNA has a melody, that is just too cool. I wonder what melody my DNA has :)

That is so funny about the toe nail polish - Tom is a wonderful husband.
I have "seen" many of those looks from my husband. I like your comment about coming in prepared to worship God - to give Him the praises He so deserves. It is not always that easy for me - not know if it is my catholic background. During the mass we are told when to sit, when to stand and when to kneel. That process that lasted for many years of my life has left me thinking of worship as "quiet" time. I do want to "break" out in dance to God - but I am struggling with it. I do dance in the "world" but when it comes to dancing in church I am still "learning". I get a lot of thoughts about what to do or not to do. I am waiting for God to come and personally ask me to dance for Him! Can you imagine!
