Gratitude

Father’s Day was filled with mixed emotions. It was the first time that both our kids were living elsewhere. They are great kids and called their dad to talk to him. I had made a special breakfast and we went off to church as usual.

During the break after worship, my husband does announcements. One of the elders said he has an announcement. This is not unusual, but what was unusual was all the elders got up. It seems for a while the elders have been collecting offerings for us. They wanted to bless us on Father’s Day with money to help pay off all the medical bills we incurred during Tom’s chemo and subsequent testing.

Our church is not very big, except it is filled with people with big hearts. They blessed us extravagantly. We were blown away by their generosity. It will cover not only Tom’s medical bills, but also cover my recent medical expenses. I was blessed beyond mere words can express.

Expressing gratitude seems to be inadequate at times like these. To our church Tom and want you to know, “We love you all so very much. We’re grateful and appreciate so very much your generosity to us.” May God bless you. May He open up His flood gates in heaven and pour down blessings on you.

Nadine - that is so awesome that they collected money for you guys to cover the bills :)
I don't think it matters how big a church is - but their hearts do :)

Be blessed today and always.

Taking care of one another is a part of Fellowship. Sounds like your church family understands this.

Putting feet to their words.....I love testimonies like this. I can only imagine how blessed you were...as must with the thoughts and caring as with the actual gift.

He always meets our needs, doesn't he? The best part is when it's so unexpected how He does it.

It is not right to just take things from God, we owe "Him" our gratitude in return too.

Oh, what a blessing from your wonderful church home...and from God, Himself!
I'm sort of new to you, so didn't know about these medical problems you and your husband have faced. But isn't it wonderful our Heavenly Father not only sees but cares!

Sometimes thanks does seem inadequate, at times like these when blessings come from un-expected places, but what else can you say. The love of your congregation is a joy to experience through you!
