The first kiss is very special. Maybe it was just like the movies. You approach each other, breathing heavy and slightly apprehensive. You close your eyes and suddenly your lips brush against each other slightly, passionately. You feel like a fireworks is going off around you. You have now met your soul mate – the person you will spend the rest of your life with. Sweet.
Then again, that may not have been your experience.
As you all know I started dating Tom when I was sixteen years old. After I asked him out (read about it here and here). He came to my sister’s house for dinner. It seemed everyone (my brother, his wife, my 2 year niece were also there) kept leaving us alone in a room - nice, right. Her apartment wasn't that big. So we found ourselves on the couch in the family room – alone. I sat close to him. He looked into my eyes and I looked in his. His face approached mine and I knew at that moment we were about to kiss.
He was so cute and the moment so right, so I leaned closer and closed my eyes. I could feel our lips approaching and his breath on my face. Then suddenly all I felt was . . . teeth. That’s right teeth. The boy had no lips. I totally slipped by his lips and hit teeth. Shocked, I opened my eyes and he was staring at me. Tom would tell you at that moment he felt like he was being sucked into a vacuum. I guess it’s all about your point of view and whether you have a firm grasp on reality and truth. We didn't give up - if at first you don't succeed, right? We closed our eyes and made some minor adjustments and then . . . magic. The rest they say is history.

hmmm.... there ARE indeed two sides to every story, however, suffice it to say it is a moment I will never forget.
I love you still...
I love you dearly...
Tom
Fun post...teeth huh? I have had that experience, but it wasn't danny boy. We were both a little more experienced when we met ;>)
I love this post, I might take you up on this topic over at my place!
how cute!
Very funny! I smooched Ann right square on the mouth after about 1 week or so of dating. I remember uttering....mmmmm....and kissed her again. The poor girl was head over heals for me then...what a lucky thing....and that's the story I'm sticking with.
That's a good one! No two lips (or set of teeth) are alike, so I can see how the experience felt different to both of you...but how sweet and romantic (and nice of your sister to leave you alone!).
I will have to think back on this one because we kissed good-bye on the night we met. It was awesome!
We were like 16. I went in to kiss his cheek and he full on smooched me! Hee hee! Good memories!
lol, cute! I dont have any great story like that. I did have a magical kiss however I always wanted to end up with this certain person, but thats not always the way it works out! you 2 are so Blessed!
Oh. Yes. I can do this.
Barry and I had known each other for several months... so there was lots of flirting preceding "The Kiss." But... we were in my small apartment one cold January Tuesday afternoon and it was just time. We sat on a couch in my living room and within seconds he put his arms around me and pulled me close. Very close. Lips close. The sparks had already been there... so this kiss was 4th of July hot in the middle of winter in New England!
We were married 6 months later... so you can imagine how that tender first kiss changed my life!
Thanks for bringing back this wonderful memory. I will have to ask Barry if his memory of this kiss is just as passionate!
Well YEAH! I am a sucker for smooches with my husband. I will work on this over the weekend and post it next week. Linking to my dear friend Nadine, of course!
Very nice idea!
Oh, and TEETH! That was funny. Looks like you guys worked it out...
Jen

I think you are probably the first person I know who remembers this magic moment :) What a lovely post Nadine.
hehehehe glad you corrected the moment and never missed a beat!
Teeth, huh? Maybe he was smiling? Cute story!
Hilarious! And I say that because my husband has no lips, and he's the first to admit it. Hee-hee
I LOVED this post!! How fun!! I am definitely going to blog... now let me see, should I blog about my first kiss with my husband... or my first kiss!? LOL! I will tell about Matt and I. Thank you for making me remember that moment... in the craziness of life right now, I forget about the days of just Matt and I. I love that you brought me back there.
xo,
Audrey
Thanks for sharing. You inspired me to share mine. Check it out at my blog.
Hi Nadine! Great/fun post!
Well ... first kiss with Paul - we tell our kids about it all the time. It kills them when we do but they get a chuckle out of it. Nothing too elaborate - sitting on my couch in my house :) But I'll never forget it!
Happy Summer! Sorry I haven't been around much :)
I guess, maybe one should keep their eye's open for the first kiss? Haha!
God bless,
Brenda
Hee. That's a cute story. When I have one to post, I'll be sure to come back and contribute :-)
Cxx
I'd like to hear Tom's side of the story :0)
My first kiss ever was Ty and I have to admit it lasted about 2 hours... I was making up for lost time ;)
It was magical!!!
awwww! I love this. I'm totally playing!!!
Oh, this was SO cute, Nadine! heehee
My first ever kiss was not until I was eighteen, and I certainly did not end up marrying him...even then, I was such a romantic and had high expectations of my first kiss. But it was so...blahhhh...that after saying good bye after the date, I ended up going into my room and crying from sheer disapointment!
Even the first time my husband kissed me good night, it was so short and sweet and wasn't sure that I felt any zip, that I was a little disapointed, then....but the next date we were watching a movie on TV...and I sort of started a kiss with him...and...magic! :)
I love this story!!! So great...life is never a movie. Instead it's full of these purely human moments that make us laugh and glue us closer together when seen for the moment of fragility and magic that they are!
Hello Nadine! My post is up, two days worth!! Hah!
Thanks for a great idea. It actually caused something pretty special for my husband and I, that wouldn't have occured if you hadn't had the idea. It really blessed us!
Take Care and God's Blessings Upon you!
Jen

I remember in grade 8 I had a little boyfriend and we were at a birthday party and someone turned the lights out and Mikey zoomed in for a kiss and landed on my nose!!!!! Yup it was horrible! I was mortified! Good thing he was cute.
