New York – Part II

I don’t usually have time to blog when I’m on an actual trip, so blogging about it after the fact is also fun. Here’s more about our visit to NY.

After we got settled into our hotel (which was very nice), we met the two elders (Peter and Maurice) from the church for dinner at Piccola Bussolar. This was a very nice Italian restaurant. The food was amazing. The company was delightful. The service was fun. Our waiter – Hector, unless we didn’t like the service then his name was John – was adorable.

From appetizers to the main course it was all so good. Tom and I shared a veal chop that melted in your mouth. Each piece was the size of a plate (thank you Hector for the head’s up on how big the portion was). We couldn’t finish, but it served as a yummy snack one night. Peter and Maurice were so pleasant. It was a fun evening of getting to know each other.

The next day we got up and went on a search for a bagel place. Oh my. We found bagel heaven. I just savored that first bite. It was so long since I had a NY bagel that was freshly made that morning. My favorite is a toss up between – a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and a toasted sesame seed bagel with butter. When you can’t decide you have to have both. Tom loves both also, but if he had to choose one it would be the sesame seed bagel.

Tom and I went house hunting after our yummy breakfast. We met with a real estate lady who showed us around. I had wanted to look at more rentals than she was able to line up. We are convinced our best bet is to rent first because it gives us more time to make a wise decision in buying. I’m glad we are going again in April to firm up a rental. We have so many people from the church looking for us. Thank you all for your help.

That evening we got to meet with the leadership team at Panera Bread. I’ve never been to one before and the food was yummy. I had a soup and salad combo that was very tasty. The bread that came with it was really good – I didn’t even use butter. The team was so welcoming and didn’t have as many questions as I thought they would. I have to say that these people love their former pastors – that was clear. What impressed me the most was how loving and kind they were towards us while going through this difficult transition.

I know I’ve made you all very hungry right now. I’m sorry. Stay tuned for more NY trip stories.

I'm coming off a head cold and stomach bug... right at the point where I'm beginning to think I might actually be hungry. And then I read this post. Now I'm certain I'm hungry! Ha!

Glad the trip went so well. Sound like it felt "comfortable" being there. That's a very good thing!

The fresh bagel sounds amazing. I used to make them from scratch, so know that right from the oven is best!

We love Panera's.

sounds like excitement going on here!
I hope and pray you find the right place!

You never been to a panera really? At my moms church that she pastors a distance away they bring in day old bread for the church to take as they wish then the rest goes to a soup kitchen! my parents always bring us our requests which are the cinnamon bagels and cheesey bagels which you see on my menu as we almost have them daily;)

If you like French onion soup you must go there and try their french onion soup in their bread bowl! Delicious!!!

I do love my carbs;)

Thanks for stopping by and your prayers!

I had no idea you were moving back to NY and had to scroll down to catch up...wow! (I had no idea in such a short time I could get so behind!) ;)
How exciting for this new change...
My husband when he was in his early 20's lived and worked in NYC with his uncle a couple of yrs...and then I finally got to see it for Fleet Week with him- so much fun!
But I'm with you...I'm not a big fan of flying...don't like the take offs and landings nor the idea of being in the air...which pretty much is everything! LOL But if we're ever to get to PEI we're going to have fly clear across the country...sigh.
Hugs to you guys as you experience this new part of your lives!

How did you guess I wanted a toasted sesame seed bagel with BUTTER instead of cream cheese...because of YOU?! ;)

Sounds like you had good food, good company and are ready for more of NY.

Btw, so am I...I'm ready for NY (hopefully this summer for my 25-year high school reunion!).

Ack! You're writing about food again. Not just food -- New York restaurants, at that. You have no mercy. :)

We have Panera Bread here, and we love it.

Best wishes to you guys!

Your joy comes right through your words. I am so happy for you and Tom! And a bit selfishly, New York is pretty close to New England for a little visit one day!!?? You made me laugh with the bagels. "Bagel heaven." I know what you mean! And Panera is one of my favorite lunch places. I take my mom there all of the time... it is consistently excellent and always friendly staff! Ah... it sounds like everything is going to be perfect! "Perfect" is my word for the day!

Sounds like you have a lot keeping you busy! I love Panera Bread. I've only been a couple of times even though there's one less than a mile from my house. Looking forward to hearing more about your journey.

I am getting so jealous hearing of all the great NY food you are enjoying. I am from NJ and only about 40 minutes from NY. I miss so many things. Bagel, yummy, especially from the city.
