Doctor’s Appointment

I had a doctor’s appointment today. I have some minor issues that I wanted to address. I don’t like going to the doctors…why? I work at a doctor’s office going to one as a patient is not fun. Upon his entrance he shakes my hand and asks how I’m doing. So I tell him the problems I’m having and his answer is that it appears that I have too much stress in my life. Hum…thank you for your professional opinion.

The funny thing about stress is that I try to remove it from my life but the more I try the more I’m spinning my wheels. Let’s see what some options are:

1. I could ignore it. That never works because it comes out in other ways – acid reflux, etc.

2. I could have a melt down. Nay, I love life too much and would miss it if I gave into a melt down.

3. I could cry. It messes my make up, my eyes get puffy, you get the idea.

The way I try to handle stress is that I turn to God for strength and peace. I pray during the day short little prayers. Yesterday was especially a stressful day at work. At one point I just had to go the restroom to clear my mind. I stood there and prayed for God’s peace. I could feel His peace from my head all the way down to my toes. It helped.

I don’t know what to do about the continued stress in the different areas of my life because they are not going away. What I can do is stay focus on the One who is able to relieve and remove the stress. I can choose to surrender my will to His will and submit to Him. I know my doctor means well but there isn’t anything he can do for me medically, but God bless him he is going to try.

Here’s a big thank you to The Quiltmaker’s Gift for honoring me with my first blog award – the Thinking Blogger Award.

congrats on the award!

I think You are an amazing woman Nadine! You have walked through some tuff circumstances which only make you tougher in the end! I hate going through struggles! I also struggle everyday with a sun who has ODD ( oppositional defiance disorder) this makes for a VERY unhappy disturbed household, but I like you keep pressing in and let go and let GOD! You are doing it kiddo! Stay strong in the Lord!
Love ya

Perhaps a long walk would help to de-stress Nadine.

Manage stress and don't let it manage you and with this post about your stress, I have confident that you would definitely manage it :)

Stress is a vicious thing! Im feeling a wee bit stressed lately, just look at my face, I am having bits of acne like Im 13 again...lol However, praying to God for help is so full of wisdom. I could picture you in the bathroom praying for it, and I thought what a smart lady. You know magnesium is great for stress too! By the way, you deserve that award, this is a great blog, full of what life is REALLY all about!

Prayer, meditation, yoga, deep breathing exercises...they help me somewhat. So does a long, hot bath. Of course, if I did that every time I felt stressed, I'd be shriveled like a raisin.

Seriously, don't you think everyone has stress? But you're right, it shows up on our bodies. Exercise seems to help me ... when I can get it! And prayer too.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your Award Nadine!

And I did the same thing today, when the stress hit me like a ton of bricks. I just shut my eyes and prayed to the Lord to walk with me and take away the crunched look on my face. You sound like you know exactly how to handle stress to me and sometimes life is full of it too. Love ya and praying for you.

Anyway, I too think that turning to God for every care is not only important but a must, after all he created us so who knows us better??
Even though sometimes we think we do ..we don't!!

I said a prayer for you this morning - asking for the Peace of Christ to be with you today. Stress is such an awful feeling. Alot of times I'll just TRY to accept the situation as it is, pray though it and also ask some things like "is it TRUE?" Often we THINK we NEED something to be different, but when I ask if that is actually TRUE, often times it simply is not. If it involves another person and I'm thinking they are thinking a certain way, this works REALLY well, because I absolutely CANNOT know their heart. And I ask myself if I wasn't thinking these thoughts, how would I be? 9 out of 10 times the answer is "peaceful".

Still praying for your hubby - please keep us updated! Hope you have a lovely day! =)

Ruin your make-up!? The horror!

Haha... that made me laugh because that's what I think about when I cry, too - "Do I have racoon eyes now!?"

I do hope you can find a healthy release for your stress. It sounds like your relationship with God is very powerful and healing.

Congrats on your award!

Thanks for your comment on our blog... we appreciate your prayers for my sister's safe delivery with her son!

Nadine, everyone loves you! It's amazing.

As for stress, I spent a godd 45 minuters last night. . .I mean this morning . . .crying and praying for help. One verse in a hymn I know kept coming to mind.

"Fear not, I am with thee,
Oh be not dismayed.
For I am thy God
And will still give thee aid.
I'll strengthen thee, help thee,
and cause thee to stand.
Upheld by my righteous
Omnipotent hand."
"How Firm a Foundation"

You are awesome. I'm glad that you took the time to pray for peace, because I know that God gives us peace.

The crazy thing is... how much did you have to pay the doctor to tell you that you are stressed out!!! :)

You know what might help to take the edge off the stress... some Outback Steakhouse cheesecake... think about it!

Loved the award!

I have learned that alot of stress in our lives are "what if's"..."what if I lose my job", "what if my kids fail their math test"...you get the idea - alot of worrying! A dear friend of mine once told me..."You know, Satan's middle name is WHAT IF". She continued to tell me that we can "what if" things to death - causing all kinds of stress and worries - and alot of times....the situation never ends like we thought it would! Then, the enemy has succeeded in keeping us so wrapped up in "what if's" that we have missed the joy that God has for us! Hang in there, girl! I will pray for you!

Also, thanks so much for visiting my blog! I enjoy seeing your comments - they are encouraging!

Blessings!
