Forced Rest

I’ve been sick. Last night I tossed and turned, but I got up and went to work anyway. The new gal quit and they are short handed. I was asked to come in early this week to help out so I feel responsible. I realized when I couldn’t breathe that I had to go to the doctor. When I saw him he said I a slight fever, my ears were red, my sinuses were clogged and I was congested. The good news is that I have that sexy Kathleen Turner voice going on. He gave me medicine and told me to go home and rest. I realized something when I got home. I don’t rest very well.

Forced rest is never fun. There were hundreds of things I could be doing around the house. I had no strength to do any of them. Tom is away teaching a class and so I had to take care of myself. I miss his tender loving care. I have to admit that I am spoiled by him. I’m not apologizing . . . I’m just saying.

As I lay here with my laptop on the bed, I decided to share some thoughts. Rest is good. Sometimes our bodies need it. When we are sick and don’t take care of ourselves our bodies rebel. Rest is sometimes necessary so that healing can take place.

Sometimes we wait too long before getting help. I decided not to do that this time. It seem like it was caught early. Isn’t that the best way . . . catch the problem early? Why do I do that? Why wait until things are so bad before I seek help. I don’t know. Sometimes I think it’s because I don’t want to bother others with my problems. Other times its pride. I’m working on the pride issue. It’s hard for me to ask for help, but I’m improving.

Forced rest is not necessarily a bad thing. I’m feeling better already.

Love the art work. It is such a great picture of rest. Be encouraged, and I am quoting your hubby here. Rest is a weapon.

I feel like you are a person who is VERY used to being active for the Lord. I admire you very much. But you have to take care of yourself. Maybe even rest more often. It's nice that you let Tom know how much you depend on him. I pray for a rapid recovery for you. Be blessed Nadine. - Jennifer

Forced rest is just about the only way I slow down! Sometimes it is the silver lining to feeling badly. Hope you feel better soon.

I swear sometimes women just need forced rest...I find my husband sometimes just making me take a break here and there cause I get too busy trying to handle everything! Women micro-manage....it is a blessing and a curse! :)

Define "rest." Just kidding. I am praying for a speedy recovery for you and restored time without stress.
Take care of you...'cause there is actually nothing to do that won't be there to do when you get well. :)

A little rest will do you good. When I get that raspy voice, I like to since Janis Joplin and do Demi Moore impressions. (There is a bright side. ;) )

Feel better!

I think we all run ourselves ragged in this fast paced world we live in! It is a shame too, but sometimes we have to kick back MAKE ourselves do the impossible and relax! Perhaps this is a lesson from God and we can then take more time for him praying...Feel better Nadine! My prayers are with you!

There's a unbelievable amount of junk going around! My co-worker has been out 4 days with double ear infection, sinus infection, and strep throat. She waited 3 days to go to the doctor, though she did stay home (thank goodness!) I had the stomach flu hit yesterday, and a bunch of others in my family - none of whom have been together. Weird.

Take care of yourself!

You are right - sometimes we wait to long to the see a doctor (I think I have...can't get rid of the cough).

I am glad that you took the advice of your doctor to rest ...

I'm so sorry to read that you've been feeling so ill. I've been trying to avoid the flu by washing my hands when I come home and drinking a hot cup of Airborn (Actually the generic version of it from Wal-mart). It seems to be working so far (knock on wood).
