Quote Me This . . .

I love quotes. On my fan page on Facebook, I’ve been posting writing quotes. Here are a few of my favorites:

If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead, either write things worth reading or do things worth writing. - Benjamin Franklin

Writing is the only profession where no one considers you ridiculous if you earn no money. - Jules Renard (1864-1910)

There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside you. - Z.N. Hurston

A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the other one. ~ Baltasar Gracián

I try to leave out the parts that people skip. ~ Elmore Leonard

What makes a quote memorable is it touches something inside of you. It sparks emotion, hope, laughter or a memory among other things. It makes you think especially if you connect with the quote in some way.

Scripture verses do all of that and more. When I feel like I’m just floundering and feel like God has forgotten me, this verse comes to mind:

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

God has a plan and purpose for my life. I matter to Him. When I look back on the things that happen to me I realize how true Jeremiah 29:11 is. Sometimes in the midst of the confusion, I just can’t see clearly enough to see the end game. I’m glad sees the end game on my behalf.

My friend, Larry Randolph, once said: “God factors our stupidity into our destiny.”

What are some of your favorite quotes or scripture verses?

Jer. 29:11 is our family verse. I also love the verses following: "In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me."

I have many journal books I've filled up with quotes.

Here are a few favorites:

"God is more concerned with our character than He is with our comfort."

"Listening to gossip is like eating cheap candy; do you really want junk like that in your belly?"

"When God approves of your life,
even your enemies will end up shaking your hand."

"Get wisdom - it's worth more than money; choose insight over income every time."

Great quotes! I could fill a book with my favorite Bible verse. Jer 29:11 would be in it! Here's another

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3

Favorite quote-

"I am not afraid of failure. I am afraid that I will succeed in things that matter not to God." - unknown

I'll have to say I do this exact thing, use a synonym when I can't spell a word. That's funny to me since it is so true.

I also think the one about writing being the only career where if you don't make any money that's okay. What a crazy society we live in.

I love quotes too but I have a lousy memory. I always sound like "You know that guy... the one who said something about time?"

Love the quotes. I too collect quotes. There are several Bible passages that keep me focused - one of course is Philippians 4:13, but also Ephesians 2:8-10...Jeremiah 29:11 has helped me over the past year to keep my eyes fixed on Him...

One of my current favorite quotes (and I will share it with anyone who will listen - lol)...is from Max Lucado "Changing direction in life is not tragic. Losing passion in life is"...

Thank you for sharing some of your favorite quotes with us and also allowing us to share ours...
