Well Hello Fifty

I turn fifty today. At first I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it. It sounds old doesn’t it? I mean, it’s half a century. My gray hairs remind me that I’m getting older, but then I just color them.

What do I have to show for being fifty years old? What have I done with my life?

I’ve written a book. I can cook. I’m witty. But those are all external things – abilities, you might say. I could go on, but enough about me.

What really counts in life?

I’m married over thirty years to the love of my life. A man who loves, honors and respects me. He’s my best friend. He says I look like I’m only thirty-eight, which just endears him to me. If that wasn’t enough, I have two beautiful children who love me. I’m extremely proud of the young adults they have become.

I have many people in my life (family and friends) that care about me.

That’s what matters most – love.  I’m grateful that for these past fifty years I’ve had love in my life. Yes, there is always sorrow and pain, but love seems to wash over those things when you look back on life.

Thank you Lord, for all the love that’s been in my life yesterday, today and tomorrow.

So true. I'm 64 today, and looking at the jowls and wondering why they have to come! And we're still dealing with "stuff" I wish would resolve itself. But it's been quite a ride and I wouldn't want to go back to 50 and do it over!

The joy of the Lord is your strength, Nadine. I love how you "count your blessings, name them one by one; count your blessings, see what God has done." 50 = jubilee: a fresh start. You still have a bright future before you. Life with Jesus is an adventure. Expect a miracle! God is faithful and loves you so much. I'm so glad to know you. You make me smile. <3 Donna

Happy Birthday.

I like your tile, "Just Being Me". I wish I could be just me at home and not have to feel being 'ostracized'.
