I Surrender

So what happens when you wake up in the wee hours of the morning and can’t sleep? Well, in my case you get up, pray . . . and then you blog.

I woke up around one o’clock. I could toss and turn, get up and watch TV or pray. I felt like I needed to pray. It was good a choice. Life had been on fast forward now for months. We have been so busy with getting the house ready for sale, selling the house, moving, working on the book, etc. The list goes on and on. (On the book front, Today I received the final proof of the entire book. I have to go though it one more time before they send me a finalized copy in the mail. Once that’s all done it’s only a matter of a couple weeks before it’s available.)

Back to praying. I’ve heard it said, “If you’re too busy to pray, then you’re too busy.” How true. I guess God was tired of waiting on me. He wanted my attention. I needed to pray. I needed to be vulnerable before God and allow Him to work in me.

Life had been a been a case of reality versus my heart.

The reality is that I need to find a job. I wish I could afford to stay home, but I can’t. I’m trying not to panic about it, but it’s not always easy.

My heart has been so very happy being home. I’ve been inspired to write (I haven’t forgotten about my story about Jake). I’ve been able to help Tom out at his new job. He’s been very busy. I’ve been able to take care of lots of moving to a new state stuff. I’ve been enjoying making meals and taking care of the home.

I realized I needed to surrender it all to God. I needed to surrender the reality and my heart. God already knew my needs. He was the one who called us here. He already knew my heart – He created it and it’s connected to Him. So surrender I did. Now I wait. I wait and see what happens.

I’ll continue to seek employment and my heart will enjoy the freedom while I can.

Amen! And you are now in a place where God can bless, bless, bless you all the more.

I'll continue to pray. God has just the right "spot" for you!

Blessings!

You are and will always be blessed Nadine and if it is not now, you know it will eventually happen much later.

Although I am not a Christian I do pray for you and Tom too :D

I too couldn't sleep and was up at the same hour. I prayed as well and then went through my main cookbooks which had about 30 years of loose recipes stuffed in the front cover. They are either organized into files now or in the garbage. I filled one garbage bag full. How sick is that? LOL Naturally, I've been going to tackle this project for years and haven't. Whew, it's finally done and it really didn't take that long! :)

I would panic if I had to work outside the home. I haven't done so in 20 years. I will be praying for you that God shows you where the very next best thing to being home is Nadine. :)

God will bless your obedient heart! :)

So you've had some of my nights too.. Change always brings it's challenges, doesn't? My poor hubby experienced the sleepless nights more than me when we moved to MT...

He's doing much better now, well it helps that he was able to get a lot of work done on the house..

Well Nadine, it does take time, but it will get easier, trust me!!!

Stay blessed!!!

I'm really looking forward to your book coming out!

...one thing I've always seen is that what God has in store for us is better than what we could tailor design for ourselves (even when the times in store are hard times)...whether He leads you to a job or provides a way for you to stay home, you will have what is the very best as you remain yielded to Him... and it sounds like that is the place your heart is. I don't know about you, but, even though I KNOW the above to be true, still it is so hard waiting for God's timing... and it is hard taking one step when I still cannot see what the step after will be... My heart is with you.

You're a wise woman listening to God and praying in the wee hours. He will quiet your heart and mind, and lead you to the right job when the timing is right. I'll be praying for you.

Congrats on your award. You deserve many awards.

honestly i couldn't help but smile that God woke you because He couldn't wait on you. :)
He will see you through and I know you can draw on that knowledge. i can't wait to see what He has in mind for you. oh the adventure.
i'm also looking for work and it's a little daunting at times and many insecurities arise but i know i will land in the right spot.

I read that the writer of 'Eragon' first published through an online, on demand publisher. Someone read it and recommended it to Random House. It has been published in 50 languages plus made into a movie. Who knows what lies ahead. Only God.

Sounds like you and God had a good conversation. I can't blame you for enjoying being at home. I know He has just the right place for you to work. I trust you'll find it soon.

I hear you're going to meet Diane soon in Dallas! She is so great.

I really hope you can enjoy it while you can. It is hard to stay at home sometimes, without the extra money we have to forgo a lot of extras. It is great that you can help Tom get started and you can have a little peace and inspiration!

I know exactly how you feel about staying home vs. job. In the rare instance I do get to be home for a couple days in a row during the week I so love cooking and keeping my home and not feeling so stressed at the end of the day. But there are positive things about working, too...and prayer is really what gets me through the trying times. Be well, dear one!
