Recently we went to Washington for a visit. Good friends (Sherry & Dennis) used their sky miles to fly us over as a gift for our friends, Duane & Dawn. I was never a gift before, but it was great. I believe I received more than they did from the visit.
Where do I start? . . . as awesome as it was to visit with dear friends, the best part of the trip was seeing our daughter. We rented a car and drove over to the other side of Washington to pick her up. (Pictured above is the car my darling hubby saw in the parking lot and couldn’t resist renting instead of the car he ordered. Granted it’s a sweet looking ride but not very comfortable.)
We got to see her apartment and visit her campus. She lives in a beautiful place. I was excited that I got to do one of my favorite things – cook – for her and her friends. It did a mother’s heart good to meet such wonderful, beautiful and intelligent women that surround my girl. I’ve adopted them all. It was fun to gather around a lovely kitchen (thanks Tilly), cook, laugh and tell stories. These young women work hard and it’s nice that they have each other to share life with. I’ve always been impressed by my daughter but even more so by the company she keeps.
My birthday is in a couple of weeks and our friends gave me a wonderful gift of a massage & facial at a fancy salon. I truly felt special. I changed into a nice robe and slippers and was told how young my skin is. What could be better than that? Thanks Duane, Dawn, Dennis & Sherry.
I also had the opportunity to stop by my old job and visit with the staff. It was great to see all of them. It was a surprise for the doctor who couldn’t have been more gracious.
When we landed back in New York there was a light rain that quickly turned into a massive downpour. Thank you Erica for braving the elements to pick us up during the storm.
It was a delightful visit and I’m glad we had the opportunity to go back to Washington.
Now it’s back to reality.

Next stop... Destin, FL! Right? Could be fun... ;)
What a wonderful gift - to you and to your friends. And how great that your daughter is in such a good place!
I remember now that we have the same birthday - I've actually hinted around that a massage would be an appropriate, wonderful gift.
Wow you were just here in my neck of the woods. I'm glad you had such a good time with your daughter and her friends and also your friends. Yes the car does look like a sweet ride and I can see the temptation. Sorry it was not so comfortable. What a nice gift your got for your birthday. You have some very sweet friends.
I'm glad you had a wonderful trip and THRILLED for you that you were able to spend time with your daughter. I know the day is coming, Nadine, when my children will be grown and away from our home. I'm not looking forward to it but I have confidence that they will do well, just as your daughter is doing well.
